Liam's 2 week check-up

We had Liam's 2 week check-up today (he is only 12 days old though), and it went really well. We met our pediatrician for the first time today, and she was very nice. The other pediatricians that we met at our Great Start appointment were kind of rude and pretty much told Deron & I that we were doing everything wrong. Quite the opposite with this new doctor. At the Great Starts appointment, Liam was weighing 8lbs 14 ounces. Today he weighed 9 lbs 10 ounces. We were glad to hear that he is gaining weight because he is always wanting to eat. His length has not changed though. He is actually 21" now instead of 21 1/4" like he was at birth. Overall, the doctor said he looked good! He is also continuing to sleep more during the night. The last two nights he slept for 5-5 1/2 hours before waking up. That was a great sleep time for me :) It has been quite a while since I have slept that much at one time. Even when I was pregnant!

Here are a couple of recent photos:

Sleep!

I am happy to say that I finally got some much needed sleep lastnight. Liam actually had a pretty good routine last night. He slept for 3-4 hours at a time and only woke up once! We actually had to wake him up before we all went to bed so he could eat. I think he is worse than his Dad when it comes to trying to wake him up. We tickled his feet, pits & belly, turned on all the lights, and we're talking loud, and it still took him about 30 min to wake up. He is an early riser though, so we were up at 5:30am this morning. It is so refreshing to be able to get at least 3 hours of sleep in a row. I am hoping that is may be a new routine for him, but... I know it could change at any time.

Here are some pictures from the visit from Grandpa & Grandma Corydon, Aunt Brittany and Uncle David yesturday. And a picture I took this morning while Liam & I were hanging out!

Family, Friends & Lots of Poop!

The last few days have felt like we have slept walked through them all. Sleep is very much missed. Liam likes to sleep all day, and gets up a lot at night. His routine is changing a little bit, and we are working on trying to get him to stay up more during the day, and sleep more at night. We have had lots a visitors over the last few days. On Wednesday, Grandma Corydon, Aunt Brittany and Uncle David all stopped by to see the little guy. And yesturday, Grandpa & Grandma McCandless, Aunt Katie and Aidan all stopped by as well. It was neat to see Aidan's interaction with his new cousin. He was a little shy and uninterested at first, but soon he was trying to play with him, and giving him kisses. Liam has also had quite a few accidents over the past few days. Our first night home with him, he ended up with poop all over his back, and we had to give him a bath at 4am. Then today when we got home from Wal-Mart, again, he had sprung a leak in his diaper. This time it was much worse then the first time. Needless to say, the picture that will be following this blog is appropriate. He is definatly a "Storm Pooper!"

Our Handsome Man is Finally Here!!!

Sorry it has taken me so long to let everyone know.... but I was in the hospital for 6 days. So, here is the low down. I went to the doctor on Wednesday for a 41 week check up. He did not like how high my blood pressure was, so he sent me to triage in the maternity ward to be watched. Well, needless to say my blood pressure did not go down, so I was admitted, and induced. They started the induction at 3pm on Wednesday with Cervado (sp??), and that continued until 9pm on Thursday when they decided to put me on Platocin (sp?). I started having major contractions around 12am on Friday morning, and at around 3:30am, they moved me into a labor room where I was dialated to 4 cm, and considered to be in active labor. I was finally at 10 cm at around 8pm, and this was after my epidural had lost it's effect and I could pretty much feel everything. I pushed for about 2 hours and we could only see part of his head. He would turtle everytime my contractions would stop. So, they offered to let me push for another hour to see if anything would happen, and then have a c-section. I asked to just go for the c-section. So, at 1:33am on Saturday, Liam was born!!!! He was 9lbs, and 21 1/4" long. He is a big boy! We were finally released from the hospital today, and are extremely happy to he home. The hospital is not fun! So here are some pictures of our beautiful baby boy!!!!

Will Today Be The Day????

Today is Liam's official due date. But... I regret to say that I do not believe that he will be arriving today. At least as of 1:20pm today, there are no changes. I have been having some sharper pains that have moved and are more around my entire belly instead of just the lower portion. But I only have 1-2 of these pains, then they disappear. We do still have the rest of the day, but as it looks, Liam will be tardy! So, for now, I will wait, impatiently, for this liitle booger to make his grand entrance. It is and has been extremely difficult to keep myself busy, and to not think about him. Every pain that I get I wonder if this is labor starting or not. Deron and I have both been nesting (him more than me), and we are starting to get a little impatient!! :) I have another doctor's appointment on Wednesday, and if he has not come by then, we will probably be making an induction appointment. So... if not today or tomorrow, at least by the 20th, I am hoping my little guy is here. Please keep all three of us in your prayers, and I hope that I have good news for everyone soon.

40 Week Check-up

Today I had my 40 week check-up. I am actually 39 weeks, 4 days... but who is counting :) Again, there are no changes. There is no dialation yet. But, the doctor did say that I could go into labor any time, and I do not have to be dialated in order to go into labor. I've been feeling sharper pelvic pains, and in fact some of them stop me in my tracks and I have to just be still until they go away. But nothing has been constant enough to make us rush to the hospital. So, keep your fingers crossed that this will happen soon. Liam's offical due date in on Sunday, Jan. 13. It would be wonderful if he would come by then. The doctor made me an appointment for next Wednesday just in case he doesn't make his grand appearance. But he told me that he will not let us go past 41 weeks. So, if mister man doesn't show up by 41 weeks, they are going to induce me. He is still moving all over the place. In fact, the doctor seems amazed every time he sees me that the baby moves so much! He says he is a big baby as well. Hopefully I will have more updates for you all soon, but for now, keep us in your prayers that the little guy will come soon!

Here is a picture from today! 39 weeks, 4 days

Another friend takes the plunge!!!

I was reminded again yesterday how much we are all growing up! My friend Natalie got married yesterday in Forest Falls. It was a cute little wedding tucked away in the mountains. And, it actually snowed a little bit! It was nice to be able to get together with many of my friends that I have not seen since I went out on maternity leave. Plus, I am supper bored right now, and I am getting stir crazy sitting in the house. Deron was not able to go because he was sick :(, so my friend Esteban attempted to dance with me.... key word, attempted! Here are a few pictures from the wedding.

39 Week Check-up

I had my 39 week check up today, and my first visit with my new Kaiser Doctor. My new doctor is very nice. It is a refreshing change from my last doctor who never really spent more than 5-10 min. with me. The main unfortunate thing was that my medical records were never sent over to Kaiser, so.... I pretty much had to start over, like I had just found out I was pregnant! Not fun! But, as for the baby... I am still not dialated, but the doctor said he could come anytime. I also had to have an ultrasound done today, and the tech said she has him measuring at a little over 8lbs. This may or may not be accurate, but for the last month and a half I've been told that we are having a big baby. I think Liam is just a little too comfortable in the belly. I would think he would want to come out since he is cramped, and is always moving around. Hopefully I will have some updates soon!
