Our Day

Today was a nice relaxing family day. We woke up at about 5:25am (thank you Liam)and played for a little while. We made some pancakes (Liam's favorite) and then about 8:30am went back to bed. We got up a little later and did some cleaning, then felt we cleaned enough and went to have lunch at our favorite place, Chevy's. Liam really loved their chips. Then we came home and took another nap! What a day of just relaxing! We finally took some new pictures of Liam. Keep in mind, he does not sit still, so some of them may be blurry.

Look! Teefers!

Our flowers are growing nicely!

Zucchini Pancakes

We found something green that Liam likes to eat. This recipe has been passed down and is something my mom used to make for us. Liam loved them. He ate two of them, which actually quite a lot when they are cut up in Liam size. Here is the recipe. They are great as a light dinner, or in addition to your dinner.

Zucchini Pancakes:
---------------------
2 C. shredded zucchini
1/2 C. Bisquick
1/2 C. shredded cheese (I use cheddar or jack)
1 or 2 eggs
onion to suit
*I also add a little garlic powder

Mix together and fry like pancakes in a little oil

That's all there is to them. Try them out and tell me what you think!

Almost Walking

Liam is almost there. He is getting more brave everyday. He takes a couple of steps here and there, or he'll just stand there, then sit down. He seems to be a little scared. Last night I was doing the dishes and he was on the other side of the kitchen, all of a sudden I see him walking towards me. He probably walked a good 6 foot section before sitting down. We always clap and say "yeah" when he walks so when he sat down, he was all proud of himself and clapped too. I would say that within the next few weeks he will become a pro. I am going to try to get a video to share with you all, it's just hard because we never know when he will just go!

Happy Valentine's Day

We hope that every one had a great Valentine's day, and that all of your day was filled with love. We started out our day by leaving cards for Daddy on the table since he was sleeping when we left. I had to work at 6am, Deron didn't have to work till 1pm. The only stinky thing about that... I got off work at 3pm, and Deron didn't get off until 10pm. Needless to say, I was asleep when he came home. But he left me some beautiful roses on the table and cards for both Liam & I. Our day didn't really go as planned. Liam had a little swelling in a hidden area on Friday night when we were giving him a bath. We kept an eye on it and in the morning, it was worse. So, I got off work at 12pm to take him to Kaisers pediatric urgent care. The doctor said it wasn't anything horrible, but didn't really give me a clear explanation for what it was. This is why I don't really care for urgent care doctors. We waited from 130-150 to be called. Then from 150-220 to see the doctor. It is not easy to entertain a 1 year old in a doctors room when you don't want him crawling around on the dirty floor. Then we headed to the pharmacy where everyone and their mom's were waiting. We waited for another 45 minutes to get his medicine, then we were finally out of there. For the rest of the day, we just hung out at home. His infection is looking so much better. And that was our Valentines day! Hopefully next year Deron could have a better schedule.

A Day With Liam

Liam & I spent the whole day together. We got to "sleep" in a little. Well, he woke up at 3:50am, and would not go back to sleep. Finally at about 6am, he went back to sleep and so did I, until about 8:15. We went to Ontario Mills to buy mommy new jeans, and Liam more clothes and some new shoes, since he won't stop growing. We bought a size 5 shoe today! What?? Liam's feet are not necessarily growing longer, but they are fat! So they don't really fit into any regular size shoes. He loves his new shoes so much that we had to put them on right away and he actually kept them on all day without any fussing! Anyways... We had lunch in the food court, then headed home. I would have done more shopping... but while we were in the Carter's store, Liam threw a huge tantrum because he wanted out of the stroller. He was so loud. Enough said, he was tired, we went home. Before we could even get on the freeway he was asleep! After his nap, we went outside and planted the flowers that we bought last Thursday. It has been raining since we bought them and today it was nice enough to go outside and plant them. Mommy did most of the planting while Liam yelled down to the kids that live below us. We bought Liam some little gardener gloves, but they are too big, so he wasn't too interested. The rest of the day we just spent playing. I guess I wore him out because the last hour (5:30-6:30) all he wanted to was cuddle. So we took a bed and he was asleep by 7:05! Hopefully that doesn't mean an extra early morning!

Christy Needs...

I was reading the Higgins Family Blog, and there was this neat post on there. You go to google and type in your name, followed by needs (i.e. christy needs). Then, post your results below. The search is pretty interesting. Here are my top ten.

1. Christy needs to blog
I think I've got that one covered, maybe I need to do it more...

2. Christy needs help
There's always something I need help with, but this makes it seems like I have a
problem

3. Christy needs a new computer
This is probably true. I have a great laptop, but our desktop took a dump.

4. Christy needs more pop
This did not mean soda on google

5. Christy needs an intervention video
hmmm....

6. Christy needs your numbers
hand them right on over

7. Christy needs TLC
this one was pretty good. it actually hit the nail on the head.

8. Christy needs to get in shape
What??? Google must be able to see me!

9. Christy needs to stop looking at clothes
I don't have the time or money to buy clothes for anyone other than Liam

10. Christy needs her own series
wow! I wonder what that would be called?

changes...

It has been a very trying week. Liam is getting in another two teeth at the same time, which will make 6 teeth total. And you all know what that means, less sleep for mommy. He has been great at sleeping through the night for the past few months, but this week, he has been waking up screaming at about 2 or 3 and then he just wants to play. I can't handle that. So, we spend about an hour trying to get him back to sleep.

He has been more receptive to different foods, which is great, but he still is picky about his vegetables. Pancakes are still his favorite, and he always points at the freezer and says, "uh huh!" Some nights he will want nothing to do with the food we are trying to give him. He will scream and just point at the freezer because he wants to eat pancakes. What happened to the days where he would just eat what we fed him?

On Tuesday night we tried to give him a bath, and he wanted nothing to do with it. He freaked out like I have never seen when I tried to put him in the tub. It was like he was scared of the water. Lastnight, he did fine. In fact, he loved it. We put bubbles in the bath and got a new rubber ducky that goes over the faucet that he just played with the entire time.

He now makes faces that are quite silly. I am convienced that he picked these faces up from another child at day care named Damian. This little kid always makes these little mad faces, and it is too cute that you can't help but laugh. Well, Liam makes the same faces now. I guess all this change comes with turning 1. He has only been 1 years old for about 2 1/2 weeks, but he is changing so much. His little personality is developing and I can almost have a conversation with him where he responds to everything we talk about. Where has my little baby gone? I don't even think I can call him a baby anymore. He is my little toddler now.

Liam loves to brush his teeth (most of the time). We sat him on the counter this day and he crawled into the sink and sat down to brush his teeth. What a little silly.

Yeah, Something Green!

We finally found something green that Liam will eat, and thanks to Hannah Cowen. She told me about these Snap Pea Crisps at Trader Joes, and I got them today. Liam ate them the whole way home from day care. And even a few more at home. I would have to say that I munched on them quite a bit too... In fact, there aren't many left. I think we're going to have to go back to Trader Joe's tomorrow to get more!
